• What is Environmental Clearance?

  It is the procedure to acquire clearance from the government for projects suspected to cause environmental pollution. It is an e-Governance initiative by the MoEFCC (Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change)

  Under the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) Notification 2006, initiation and operation of projects such as Mining, Thermal-power plant, infrastructure etc., are required by law to acquire Environment Clearance from the government. Failing to do so may result in fines levied or termination of the project altogether.

• Why is there a need for Environmental Clearance?

  Environmental Clearance is required for various projects to make sure that they meet the set environmental standards and regulations. It also ensures that the projects are sustainable and helps pinpoint environmental impacts if any, compelling oneself to mitigate it.

• What is Forest Clearance?

  It is the procedure to acquire clearance from the government, for projects that, in advertently or by intent are located in the forest area. It is an e-Governance initiative by the MoEFCC (Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change), in order to conserve the sanctity of the forest land.

• Why is there a need for Forest Clearance?

  It is of the utmost importance to apply for forest clearance prior to starting the project in forest area, so that the overall project remains lawfully sound and to avoid any hefty fines that can be levied against the trespassers.
